Traffic is King, but this comes FIRST

Let’s talk about some powerful ways to get free and automated traffic coming to your website.

Traffic is useless . . . unless…

The first thing you need to do before you start going after any traffic is keyword research. The reason this is so important is that you are going to be building content and traffic sources for specific keywords. Which means you need to put some thought into the keywords you’re targeting.

While doing your keyword research, keep the following in mind:

  • Are the keywords you’re interested in attainable? You’ll have to analyze the competition and see what’s out there for this.
  • Are these “buying” keywords? If you don’t do your research you’ll end up with a lot of traffic that doesn’t buy from you. What you want is buyers!
  • Another thing to think about is affiliates. Generating your own customers is great – having other people do it for you is even better. So, it’s important to also target affiliates in the keywords you go after.

This is critical to your business, but it takes a lot of time and effort. And hiring an expert is very expensive. Which is why practically none of your competitors will do this! What I recommend is using website traffic software to save the time of doing it yourself and the money of hiring someone else. This will not only speed it up. It will give you better results, as well.

Only then can you start getting traffic

Now that you’ve completed your keyword research, you can begin using these keywords to get traffic to your website.

Here are a couple of clever ways to do this…

  • Surveys
  • “Answer” Sites
  • Video

Surveys

The truth is that people really enjoy taking surveys and finding out what other people think. You can use this fact to provide “sticky” content for other website owners. They benefit by getting free content for their site and you get a link to your site under the survey. This allows you to get free website traffic from other people’s sites! Most people think surveys are just for collecting data, but in this case you don’t even care about the answers. Just make the question interesting enough that people will want to share it with their own visitors.

“Help” Websites

Sites like Yahoo! Answers allow users to ask and answer each others’ questions. However, you’re interest in these sites is not to ask and answer questions. The other thing they can be used for is to get traffic to your site, leads for your business and sales! One thing you can do is to visit sites like Craigslist and Yahoo! Answers and manually extract contact info to contact other users. But a much smarter method is to use website traffic software to do it for you. Then you just get a daily batch of fresh leads delivered to your inbox.

Video Websites

Another great resource is video sharing sites like YouTube. YouTube is one of the most highly traffic and search websites on the entire internet! If used properly, video sites can get you more website traffic than you know what to do with.

You don’t have to be able to make awesome videos for this to work. It’s really easy to just start with an article or something you’ve already written. And use free screen capture software to record yourself reading it. I’ve even seen software that will automatically convert an article to a video!

Summary

Getting traffic is not that difficult. Use your noodle and come up with things other people aren’t doing. You can even use software to automate most of what we’ve talked about.

So, start right now and:

  • Keyword research first is key
  • Set up some viral surveys
  • Take advantage of the “help” sites
  • And don’t forget about video
